Jessica Moorhead
The mission of the Jessica Moorhead Foundation for Hope is mobilizing grass roots support for childhood cancer patients in the Mahoning Valley. As a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization since 2003, our niche has been joining with charitable organizations and groups of citizens to meet the varied needs of patients and their families. While larger charities handle the big things, such as endowments and new equipment, we tend to focus on building the everyday strengths that are vital to a patient's quality of life—the need to live normally, to learn and discover abilities, to enjoy time with family, to be part of a community, and to hold on to hopes and dreams for a bright future.
That focus comes from the imagination and inspiration of Jessica Lynn Moorhead and the community who surrounded her during her four-year battle with leukemia. Jessica set an example for us all by living life to the fullest after her diagnosis, and her dream was to do something that would give joy and hope to other patients.
